Extended Break
Hi everyone. Just to let all you spin fans out there know that we havent spilt up but have just entered a period of mayhem (end of school year, productions, exams, house moves, etc, etc) hence the recent 'non-activity'. Wol and Al (not together!) are off to NZ and OZ respectively in July/August and on their return the band hope to anounce a string of dates from September up until the festive season. Hope to see some of you soon. New material still being worked on!

new tunes
spin are currently writing and rehearsing new material in an attempt to 'diversify' their current catalogue of sing-a-long classics! Early sessions have produced a Beatlesesque epic and some inspired lyrics from Greg (yes, we have a drummer who writes songs-get us!). Another tune in its early stages of conception has seen Wol accusing Al of trying to 'sing like a cockney'. At least we think he said 'cockney'! The band hope to unfurl some of their new material at a venue near you soon.

acoustic@wilby
spin are performing this Friday 23rd December at The George in Wilby. Greg is off drumming his heart and soul out elsewhere so the gig will be acoustic! That means that the boys will be taking the opportunity to try a variety of tunes out and label it as 'improvised jazz if it goes wrong. Hope to see you there!

We have re-recorded the tracks from take what you can as we felt that they couldnt be left off of our first album!
Keep an eye on the gigs page as we plan to play a host of dates to promote the new album. Then its on to writing new tunes for the next one!

the changing face of spin:
The closing months of 2004 see
spin
left with only two members of the original line up dating back to their blockbuster Soundhaus debut gig in May 2001.
Ed has left to pursue a new position of Head of Music at Chellaston Secondary School in Derby and a new house in Ashbourne. Ed will be greatly missed for his immense talent on the keys and in songwriting and composition, let alone what a great bloke he is. However, his inability to play 4/4 and his Manilowesque traits will not be missed (only joking Ed!). Alas, the one member of the band who can read music (and has a degree in it!) has departed. Good luck mate!
Drummer James Ansell has also left the band to pursue a new Military career which we cant say anymore about for fear of snipers picking us off from a nearby book depository! A cracking drummer but unfortunately a Spurs fan. All the best James!
The good news is that the new members are in place and cooking on gas! We hope to unveil the new additions at a press conference or a gig in front of 5 people at the Labour Club or Ratpack soon!

spin win:
Friday 14th May saw
spin
win 3 days studio time and a photo shoot with press coverage.
Winning through the heat of a battle of the bands meant
spin
went head to head with Aerosoul, an 11 piece soul band, at a venue in Kettering, Northants.
The play off for the prize started at 8.30pm with the two bands having set up at opposite ends of the venue. A coin was tossed and with
spin
losing they had to play four numbers first and then wait while the other band responded.
Opening with their latest penned song "By the Book"
spin
woke the audience up with a whining guitar opening. This song will more than likely feature in their upcoming CD along with favourites "Scream" and "If I Should Fall". As the night progressed with each band taking it in turn to woo the increasingly partisan audience spin played a mixture of old and new original material combining long standing numbers "All Just Wrong" and "What If" with another recent composition "Got the Fear". If they don't include this vocal harmony extravaganza on their next CD they need sending to the glue factory.
Finishing with "Scream", they had to wait for Aerosoul to finish their last number and then wait further still for the judges decision.
Judges conferred.
The audience waited and then went silent as the chief judge made his announcement.
spin had won.
Congratulations were made and the voucher for the prize handed over. To top it all the band were then approached by a representative of a recording and band promotion company who had watched them play with an offer of a free day in their studio.
